dancin' queenie!

Yep, it's true!

And here's the story ....

The year was 1979, "The Year of the Child." ABBA was touring the world, touting their recent album, "Voulez-Vous," and their recent hits, "Dancing Queen" and "Take a Chance on Me."

In order to raise money for the Year of the Child, ABBA performed live at each show with a Children's Unicef Choir. Since I had been a singing girl from a very early age, I tried out for the choir, and made it!, one of the twenty southeastern Wisconsin children chosen from hundreds of auditionees! We practiced two songs, "I have a Dream," and "Thank-You For the Music." We were told that, even though we were preparing two songs, ABBA usually only sang one of them with the childrens choirs. ... "I Have a Dream." (Of course, I liked "Thank-You for the Music" better!

The day arrived, and thousands turned out to see ABBA perform at the Milwaukee Arena. During the middle of the concert, we were ushered onto the stage, and performed BOTH OF OUR NUMBERS!. Agnetha, Frida, Benny and Bjorn walked in and out of the choir, (or, at least Frida and Agnetha did), and held the microphone up to us!!!

After the concert, we were invited backstage and given an opportunity to meet the famed disco stars. Everyone always asks me what I remember most from this event. The answer is, they were tall. It was, by far, one of the most exciting days of my life.

This was ABBA's last tour as live performers.

I'm looking for another band to sing with now, so if you're interested, let me know.
